Shropshire landowners are being advised to consider the development potential of their land as the county council seeks new sites to meet its five-year housing supply target.
The planning and development team at Halls in Shrewsbury is keen to hear from owners of land adjacent to existing settlements across Shropshire. Shropshire Council is calling for prospective housing sites this October.
The National Planning Policy Framework requires local authorities to ensure that they have enough sites to supply housing for five years, which is reviewed annually. The current five year period runs until 2028-‘29.
Under Government assessments, local housing need in Shropshire has increased from 1,070 to 1,994 dwellings per year. The county currently has 4.73 years supply of deliverable housing land.
“We can support landowners to position their land for an application and promote it for allocation within the development plan,” said Paul Watson, Halls’ senior planning consultant. “With our growing and knowledgeable team, we can offer a full range of in-house services throughout every stage of a project.
“Given the success of our property auctions and residential department, we see a fantastic opportunity to offer our services to owners of land with housing development potential.
“We aim to expand our planning work in the residential sector by taking on more projects involving new housing developments, extensions and outbuildings.”
Halls’ planning and development team offers a wide range of professional services, including HM Land Registry compliant plans, measured building surveys and concept designs, architectural and technical drawings, permitted development guidance, planning applications, building regulations applications and specifications and construction project management.
Halls offers a free consultation to discuss development ideas on site and provides expert advice.
